We know that a dental emergency can occur at any time. Perhaps you have been injured in a rough game of football and have chipped a tooth. Maybe you experience sudden, searing tooth pain or you have an abscess tooth that has decided to erupt before your scheduled dentist appointment. If your tooth goes through any type of trauma it is important to get into a dentist as soon as possible.

When you call our office, we try our best to get you in the same day and if your injury has occurred at a time when our office is closed, we do have an emergency service that you can be directed to where you will receive immediate assistance.

Saving the tooth

There are some things that you can do in order to save a tooth that has been damaged and it is important to stay aware of these so that you can act quickly.

• Tooth is knocked out – take the tooth and rinse it with water only. Then put it in milk, and bring the milk and the tooth with you to the dentist.
• Tooth is broken – use warm water to rinse the tooth area first to wash out any bacteria or food particles. Then make sure you keep that area clean until you see the dentist.
• Cracked tooth – for good measure, rinse out your mouth to keep food and bacteria from settling into the crack and then visit your dentist as soon as you can.
